On the way to the stop to get the bus to Tlacochahuaya, we often see some of the giant dolls used to represent the brides and grooms. On Monday, we took a picture of the bride (just her torso through head) on a motorcycle. This evening, as we were taking photos of a new set of four heads they were working on, one man, in English, said, “Come with me.” He put the doll on and began moving it around and chanting, now in Spanish, “Bienvenidos a Mexico” (Welcome to Mexico). I went to put my camera back in my pocket, and he cheered, “one more.” I took a couple more shots to make him happy.
