Part of packing and preparing to head back home tomorrow means that I have to round up all of the peso coins I have collected over the past four months because they are too heavy to pack in my suitcase!
I have become one of those customers I used to loathe when I worked at the am/pm; at least once a day someone’d try to fill a gas tank with a cracked piggy bank and some change from the couch.
However, I try not to turn over more than one-hundred pesos (about $8.50) at a time. And, it’s not as if I a paying in pennies. The smallest denomination is a fifty centavo piece (less than five cents), and they are probably going out of style as the bus now is six pesos (up from 5.50, but not as high as the threatened eight).
