Oaxaca is full of art. There are museums. (I especially love the Rufino Tamayo museum which houses a tremendous collection of pre-columbian art.) There are churches. Some of the churches are gold-tipped; others are decked out in flowers and song. There are art vendors on every street corner, in shops, in collectives, in markets. And, there is an abundance of visual art (murals, graffiti, and posters) in public and private spaces.
In some parts of the city, beautifully painted street pieces change as frequently as a billboard does. Who knows what might appear next? I would love to have a catalog of all of the murals right now. But, perhaps, there is too much to inventory, too much beauty, too much to see.
