If you have been reading along about food, you may have noticed that I’m not usually touting desserts (except things with lemon) here. Yes, Mexican pastries and sweets are something heavenly to look at, but the flavor (unless it’s lemon) and textures are often disappointing.
Because it was raining and I was tired from my tour, I decided to try Garabantos, a restaurant in the Hampton Inn lobby that sort of reminds me of a cross between Marie Callender’s and Cheesecake Factory for the ridiculously extensive bakery section. There were so many choices, but there was nothing featuring lemon, so I gambled on ordering a rebanda (slice) of the zarzamora (blackberry) cheesecake. It tasted even richer and creamier than any picture might depict.
