The old cemetery in Xoxocotlan featured tiny coffins that were used in a theater production earlier in the day. This is an awful sight, but because many believe the angelitos (children who have died) return sometime between noon on the last day of October and five on the first of November, the theater production had apparently highlighted their return. We were just happy to know that the six or so coffins we saw were for didactic purposes and weren’t new angelitos waiting to be interred.
The cemetery was quiet and few people were present. The church only had four other people in it. Because the church was remarkably well-lit, we had the chance to see all of the representations, flowers, and candles in the two rooms.
