Tonight on the Zocalo, I saw an entire family wearing headbands with flashing red devil horns. They seemed to forget that they had dressed in this manner (even though they could see each other) and were puzzled when people were staring at (almost over) them.
A tall woman wore a skirt made of corn husks that rustled as she danced around.
I could hardly stop giggling while I was milling around the cathedral because several little boys dressed as devils were visiting the church which is now decorated with thousands of lilies. The sweet scent fills the pews.
Among all of the beautiful and mysterious sights to take in, I saw this woman and asked if I could snap a phot. She eagerly replied: “Claro que sí,” and I realized that when someone creates something startlingly beautiful, part of the point is to show it off to others.
