I was having a chicken burger (it was ground chicken and a lot of garlic) and a parsley, beet and carrot juice (the combination is named energetico/energetic) and I was facing out into Llano Park when the show began. A patrolman on a motorcycle pulled a vehicle over. You have to understand this is rare. I have seen people run a red light in front of officers, and they weren’t even pulled over.

However, once this car stopped (right in front of my window), it was as if there were dozens of payasos (clowns) packed inside. Children in blue uniforms seemed to pour from all five doors (including the cargo area which, at first, they could not get unlocked).

I asked the helpful waiter in the café what he thought was going on. He said that he could tell by the uniforms that they were wearing that these little clowns were in middle school and shouldn’t have been driving at all, especially not in the middle of a school day. I watched as three walked off arm and arm into the park; the rest waited for the driver’s mother to come.

By the time I was heading out across the park, the mother had arrived and was trying to free both the family vehicle and her child from the officer. Off to the side, two of the boys were kicking each other in a play fight that was growing increasingly more serious – such was their day.
