The Students Have a Camera

As we were reviewing the alphabet this afternoon, we used tiles (similar to Scrabble tiles) to demonstrate the letters that are not in the English alphabet and to form English and Spanish words. Though the students are mostly diligent, they need some fun.

One of the students saw my phone (which I was using as a camera) and wanted to try it out. These photos, and many others (too many to include) are the result of the break we had this afternoon. We also recorded the students looking into the phone (when it was set like a mirror) to capture their reactions to their own image. A couple made funny faces; one hid; another tried to focus the screen on someone else.

I am convinced, by their curiosity and ability to use the camera, that we should encourage students to document their learning in this way, especially since it is so interesting to them.
